Columbus State Community College has been dedicated to meeting the educational needs of central Ohio students for more than 40 years. The College has grown from an initial enrollment of 67 students in 1963, to its current thriving campus of more than 23,000 students.
Columbus State's Career & Technical Programs division offers 2-year career programs in more than 55 areas of business, health, public service, human service, and engineering technologies. Students can also take the first 2 years of their bachelor's degree through the College of Arts and Science, then transfer to a 4-year college. Their Community Education and Workforce Development division offers continuing education classes, licensure courses and personal enrichment courses.
The downtown campus is conveniently located near downtown Columbus, on 80 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. The campus currently consists of more than 24 buildings, including the newest facility, the Center for Workforce Development.
History of the College
First established in 1963 as the Columbus Technical Institute with an open enrollment of just 67 students.meeting at Central High School on West Broad Street. The school then moved to the old St. Thomas Aquinas High School that was located on the property where Columbus State now resides. Columbus Technical Institute changed its name in 1988 to Columbus State Community College.
